DAM

Checkers or ‘DAM’ as they call it in Malay, is a favourite board game among many rural folk. Like here, it can be played with a simple wooden board and mineral water caps and is usually enjoyed by the older generation to pass time. A game can start anytime during the day, usually played in a shady public area, like under a ‘pondok’ or shelter.
