During Hari Raya Haji, cows are sacrificed - symbolic of giving Muslims who participate, a ‘vehicle’ for transportation into the after life. They first try to lasso the cow’s legs and bring it to the ground. After which - several men hold it down, exposing its neck for a quick slit with a sharp machete, accompanied by chanting of prayers. The meat is then cut and distributed 7 ways.
